latest news => October 8, 2002. It all started with the proposal posted by Johan aka 2Rowdy into the newsgroup news:alt.config. The message has i.d. <J1Io9.17933$gD2.1759617@zwoll1.home.nl> and can be viewed from Google. The complete message thread can also be viewed. During the process of proposal and creation there was
a lot of support and help from La Zoë. Also contributing were Bard,
PJR:-)
and christinA.
Without their support and input the group would not
exist. The birth of the group was on October 12, 2002 when the csmg was send and accepted. The group is listed at ftp.isc.org at this place: ftp://ftp.isc.org/pub/usenet/CONFIG/newsgroups.gz. The control message can be viewed at: ftp://ftp.isc.org/usenet/control/alt/alt.autos.citroen.gz. Johan aka 2Rowdy has received the nickname 'Johan the silly-walker' by La Zoë. Johan had troubles receiving the newsgroup through his own ISP. He stated he would go outside and kick a stone due to frustration and could be recognised the following day by his silly walk, the @home-walk. Johan now has access thanks to Cis.Dfn. November 5, 2002. The publication of this website to promote the newsgroup. November 23, 2002. The group was listed at Google. Previous postings are included in the archive. Everybody has access to the newsgroup. December 4, 2002. The @home provider in the Netherlands, in it's wisdom, has decided to add the newsgroup. Johan still uses Cis.Dfn. January 1, 2003. Google finds this website. January 21, 2003. Kim Olson posted a message with a question; How
international is this group? The answers were: Denmark
(3x), France (2x), Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain (2x),
Greece (2x), Estonia (2x), The Netherlands (3x), United
States of America (2x), Poland, Scotland (exiled in
England), New Sealand (also in living in the UK), Finland
(2x), Scotland, Italy, American (in the UK), Austria,
Norway, Malaysia. February 12, 2003. The addition of a page containing some hints and tips on creating a newsgroup. June 11, 2003. The name www.aacit.net was accuired, some webspace was rent and here we are. I must be nuts, I know I am. One reason is the hight of the cost of my internet connection. If I loose the broadband connection I should have sufficient to spare for the name and webspace. The website was reworked containing a frame-like table. I hope it won't upset browsers. June 15, 2003. Website reworked and published into the newsgroup. June 18, 2003. Finally I have the Guestbook working. October 30, 2003. Main page optimised by Whiskers. September 7, 2004. Minor changes and I was forced to remove the overspammed guestbook. January 31, 2005. Added a section containing pictures of the cars of the aac regulars. June 23, 2005. The host I used (fastwebsites.com
aka namecow.com) did
not accept my credit card, or the credit card company did
not trust the host. I have checked validity of my credit
card and it was fine so you tell me what is the truth.
Dispite me trying to renew, the account expired. The host
locked my domain name (www.aacit.net). July 14, 2005. Didn't have much time so it took some time to get the e-mail to work. My dear previous host (fastwebsites.com aka namecow.com) have randsomed my domain an I can buy it back for a massive amount of money. D'uh. September 17, 2005. Who would ever think this could
happen. There was a host hostile takeover. Not sure what
happened. GNS-NL (who ever this may be) took over
Websspace.com but something went wrong and my website
ended up on a server with no DNS pointing towards it. I
have counted my losses and entered a contract with a new
host, Deltaned.nl.
The domain was locked by Seeyouonline.be but
with some help of the ancient fax machine and the new
host, the domain (aacity.net)
is back on-line. Let's hope this lasts. April 5,2006. Did some small rework and added a chatbox. Hope it won't be abused. Latest news |
